Spire is an acoustic band from Oxfordsh1re, playing mainly British traditional folk songs with a few self-penned items thrown in. It was formed in the summer of 1997 by Sian, Pete, Roxy and Ed. The name comes from the initial letters of the names of these four, which put together nearly spell the word 'spire'. When Steve joined the band in 1999 he put the 'I' in Spire by adopting the stage-name 'Ivan'. Ed, Pete and Steve live in Oxford, the 'city of dreaming spires' and Sian and Roxy live in Grove.

Our producer and director is a huge fan and we are absolutely delighted that they agreed to come along and join us in this very novel venture in the wonderful setting of Buscot Park.

Tonight you will hear the words of Shakespeare set to some original arrangements by Spire. We have also included debut performances of "Oh Mistress Mine" and "Sigh No More Ladies" sung by their composer, Allyn Richardson.
