A short one act play written in English from a French acting edition. The action of the play passes in the sitting room of Emmie Wayne’s house on the outskirts of a small village.

The Laboratory

A farce in one act. The scene is the apothecary’s laboratory, in one of the smaller Italian City States in the year 1560. The apothecary has two problems: How to sell poison without being caught, and how to stay alive while causing others to die. A powerful Court Official, Da Brescia, arrives demanding poison. A rival covets both his job and his young mistress. The frightened apothecary fears death whether he says yes or no and swears he is not guilty of dealing in poison.The farce continues as more people get involved.
