National Drama Organisations:

Oxfordshire Drama Network (ODN) – a website set up for ODN members to exchange news and views over a message board on the web. This aims to provide a useful medium in which to advertise latest productions, or find actors of a certain age, trawl for strange props, etc..

National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA)- for members of amateur operatic and dramatic societies for their mutual assistance and combined benefit.

Amdram.co.uk – this is the site for free information about anything associated with amateur theatre.

UK Theatre Web – the definitive WWW guide to professional and amateur performing arts (mainly theatre, or possibly theater if you’re American or theatr if you’re Welsh) in the UK.

Local Drama Groups:

Abingdon Touring Theatre Company – a new Oxfordshire-based company, formed with three main purposes: To giving touring experience to talented gap year students hoping to work in the theatre after graduation. To help schools develop their English and Drama programmes through workshops and performances. To raise the profile of theatre in rural communities.

Cotswold Arcadians – performs open-air Shakespeare once a year in the Cotswolds, often with the help of the Faringdon Dramatic Society FDS.

Kingston Bagpuize Drama Group – put on productions twice a year, in April and November and run children’s workshops for the local community.

Oxford Theatre Guild – claim to be the largest group in Oxfordshire. They perform in the Oxford Play House and also do a Summer Shakespeare in one of the Oxford college gardens.

The Domino Players Wantage – first established in Wantage over 40 years ago and is well known in the area for putting on a wide variety of productions to suit all tastes from tragedy to comedy, Shakespeare to Dylan Thomas..

The Newbury Theatre – find out about the events coming up in the area. Lots of information and links to other drama/theatre groups around Wiltshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.

The Compton Players – an amateur dramatic group based in Compton, West Berkshire. North of Newbury, South of Oxford, producing plays every year since 1947.

The Riverside Players – an amateur company based at Pangbourne College. Members come from all over the country and meet for an exhilarating fortnight every summer to put on a play in the open air.

Wantage Stage Musical Company – The amateur group that has something all year round for you.

Witney Dramatics Society – We are an amateur drama group based in Witney, Oxfordshire who perform a huge variety of pantomimes, plays, musicals and comedies.


The Internet Theatre Bookshop – offers virtually every play currently published in the English language.

Samuel French Ltd – Over two thousand playscripts available, covering all elements of performing theatre.

Josef Weinberger – Publishers of plays, musicals, pantomime, opera, and ballet.

libcat.oxfordshire.gov.uk – Oxfordshire Libraries Catalogue – FDS now has a Society Drama Card. You can log on and look at our loans and reservations and search the site for play sets, etc. You will be able to go into any Oxfordshire library and pick up reservations and in most cases get to keep scripts for over 3 months.
