A Night at the Musicals

A one-off special charity gala concert of songs from various musicals in aid of the Helen and Douglas House Children’s Hospice – “Helping terminally ill children live life to the full”.

This cabaret concert will be filled to the brim with group and ensemble numbers featuring familiar songs from Les Miserables, South Pacific, Wicked, My Fair Lady, Six, Phantom of the Opera and The Greatest Showman amongst others!

This production is to be performed in association with FDS, and the event will involve members of the society alongside others from a wider sphere.

The show was originally planned to take place in September 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

The singers were excellent, with some very strong members. A great selection of songs. I don't recall being notified that we could bring drink/snack.

The team did amazing to overcome the last minute changes. All performed with great humour and a friendly atmosphere.

Saturday evening "A brilliant night"

I enjoyed it very much. Did not know which shows one or two of the songs came from. It was a good mixture of solos and ensemble. I was at the front so saw and heard everything. The acting when relevant was also good. It would be lovely if there was another one. I could understand the tables but there could have been more people and hence more money collected without them. I also did not realise I had to bring my own drink I had obviously forgotten that, But a friend had a spare mug and shared her juice with me in the interval.

Saturday evening "The singing overall was brilliant and some numbers were exceptional"

The whole evening was much enjoyed by all six of us and it seemed a shame you couldn't squeeze more people in but it was really comfortable.

What a great night. Everyone loves a musical surely and now I know of a few more I need to seek out! The performances were outstanding and I was left wanting more. The table layout and bringing your own drinks and snacks worked wonderfully and only added to an already wonderful event. Thank-you for a fabulous night out.

With a great atmosphere and some special performances, the night was a huge success! I was dazzled by the incredible talent on display and the skill with which the crew navigated through the lengthy set list, and really impressed by how smoothly the show was put together. Knowing the event was raising money for such an important local charity made the event even more special. Well done FDS – another fantastic night out!
