candleford-2008-diamondCandleford is being performed to celebrate Faringdon Dramatic Society’s 60th birthday, and will be performed “In the Round”. This play is a sequel to ‘Lark Rise‘ that FDS performed in May 1998 for our 50th. Both plays were created from the trilogy ‘Lark Rise to Candleford’ by Flora Thompson, which has also recently been adapted and serialised for television. It takes place in a small Oxfordshire town, in the late 19th century where Laura works in the post office. The play depicts a day in mid winter giving a lively picture of typical country life with music and songs. With a cast of 30 who’s ages range from 11 to 70+ and a live band it should be a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
